Hans Adriaansens Former Dean of RA Academic Background Hans P.M. Adriaansens was born in Middelburg (1946). Afer completing his Gymnasium education in Breda, he read Sociology and graduated from the University of Tilburg in 1969 (cum laude). He completed his doctoral dissertation in 1976 (cum laude) in Tilburg. Between 1984 and 1987 he served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Tilburg. In September 1987 he was appointed Professor of Social Sciences at Utrecht University. Founder of University Colleges Unhappy with the undemanding and large scale climate of university education in the Netherlands, Professor Hans Adriaansens started developing the idea of a small scale and academically intensive undergraduate college in the Netherlands.
